Though it may be cute to see your best buddy doing simple tricks and listening to commands, there is also a more serious side to having your dog trained. This is for the health and safety of your dog as well as for others.

Safety First

Both you and your dog should know certain commands to prevent accidents. For example, dogs are happy, social animals. Unless taught, they won't know better. They may jump up and knock down an elderly person or a child, with no intention of hurting.

A child may escape serious injury, but an elderly person may not. You must be able to control this behavior in your dog, especially if they are larger breed. Some dogs walk without a leash. If you cannot control your dog, it may dash across the street to chase a cat, a squirrel or a ball. What dog can resist a ball?

From the moment they are born, dogs have this fascination with it. They love to chase and play with it. A speeding car could end it all. Please be careful. Learn to train your dog to listen in an instant. It is your responsibility, and ultimately, it will be your fault.

After All, Dogs Are Only Human

One reason we love dogs so much could be that they are like children. We need to care for them and protect them. And just like humans, they can have similar issues and concerns.

They can have behavioral concerns, separation anxiety, fears and phobias - all of which can be experienced by children as well. Learning tips on training your dog will be helpful. Even if you can't personally train, contact someone who can.

Training Tips To Make Your Day!

You can learn to train your dog without using those choke chains. You should teach your dog that YOU are the 'pack' leader. You can make sure your dog doesn't embarrass you in public! You could learn all kinds of tricks to teach your dog quickly and painlessly.

For example, a bark collar will help to curb excessive barking. There are other alternatives to the collars that deliver a small shock. Though it is quite safe and harmless, understandably, not everyone likes the static correction method.

You can turn training time into a family thing. It's a good idea that your family is involved with training as well. And remember that you can always educate yourself by reading books or buying videos on the subject. Learning tips on dog training will deepen the bond between you and your dog!
